Suggestions

I meet once a week with my neighbor she teaches me a little Japanese and we talk in English so she can practice.
This last week we were talking about confusing English phrases. Such as, He's not cut out for business. Or to do something on the fly. Can you think of anymore more that would be useful? I get stuck when I have to think of example. You can leave suggestions in the comments.

thanks

Hey Kate!
I read it, too. In fact, this morning I had a huge answer for you, but couldn't post anonymously, so I had to delete it. Mine were a lot of southern phrases and such too:
If that don't beat all
Look what the cat dragged in
___as all get out
cat got your tongue (wow--a lot with cats)
can't carry a tune
two left feet
all thumbs (fz is contributing too now)
umm..I'll keep brainstorming

That's awesome, raining cats and dogs is a great one.

I've never heard "higher than a cat's back"

Thanks Tricia

Thanks Erica I'm sure this is more than enough. I always stumble over to Yomeko's house with nothing to offer but this will be fun. thanks

Hey Kate and Danny,

This is Danny's brother Kevin. Ive been checking out the website too.

Ive got a few phrases of nonsensical English you could use.

How about:

"That is the real deal." <=>(No messing around here)

"Dude, you want to jam out?" <=> (Let's play some musical instruments together in a somewhat harmonious manner)

"Holy Canoli!" <=> (damn that s*** was crazy)

Happy Holidays!
